You can join online at and click on ‘JOIN UNITE’, or you can complete one of our application forms, available from our local Unite offices (find your nearest office on, or ask a representative for a form.

Whether you choose to join online, or complete one of our application forms, please use the job title which most closely matches what you do. Please also use the job code if you apply using one of our forms:

VETERINARY SURGEON (job code J10132)

Definition – covers members of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, including retired vets

VETERINARY STUDENT (job code J10130) or VETERINARY NURSE STUDENT (job code J10129)

If you are in full-time higher education, or are employed to work fewer than 10 hours a week, you may qualify to pay a reduced subscription rate for the duration of your study.

VETERINARY NURSE (job code J10128)

Definition – covers Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons registered/listed veterinary nurses


Definition – covers all other staff dealing with animals or doing animal-related work, like Animal Nursing Assistants (ANAs).


Definition – covers Practice Managers, Receptionists, Book-keepers, etc.

VETERINARY SUPPORT (job code J10131)

Definition – covers support staff who do NOT deal with animals, such as lab technicians, cleaners, drivers, etc.

making sure you include the correct job title and job code, and return your completed application to:
