20th November 2025
This week (13-19 November) has been Trans Awareness Week, culminating today with Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) on 20th November. It is a day where the community and allies come together to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of transphobic violence.
At the BVU, we want to express our support and solidarity with our transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse members, especially in what has been a difficult year for the community, and alongside a global rise in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric. We want to assure our members that we support you. If you experience transphobia in the workplace, please get in touch here so we can provide support, advice, and representation.
It is important to stand up for all marginalised groups and remember that we are all stronger together. We have more in common than those who wish to divide us would have us believe. We fight for the rights of all people to be able to live and work happily and without fear. Trans rights, women’s rights, migrant’s rights, worker’s rights – they are all human rights – the same struggle and the same fight. If we work together, we can achieve both a better workplace and a better world for us all.
