Why Join

The BVU exists to protect and enhance the workplace rights of our members, and all those employed in the Veterinary Sector.

Unfortunately, the veterinary industry is plagued by long hours, few breaks and inadequate work-life balance. This, along with often poor remuneration, contributes to our poor retention rates, and high levels of burn out, mental health issues and suicide.

We also have a number of issues with equality, particularly relating to race and class discrimination, and lack of access and support for disabled workers.

With increasing corporatisation of the industry, it is more important than ever that we, the workers, have a voice to ensure people and patients are put before profit.

We want to change the profession and industry for the better, to make it a better and fairer place to work, where everyone can feel fulfilled in their work, but also able to enjoy their life outside of work.
