What We Do

Here at the BVU, our dedicated team of officers and representatives work to support our members in individual or collective workplace issues, as well as campaigning for better conditions across the industry.

We are able to support members with grievances and disciplinary processes within their workplaces, and to support members with RCVS disciplinary processes.

Collectively, we work to highlight and address issues with affect the whole – or subsets of – the industry, and to safeguard the collective interests of the profession.

Our Aims

The British Veterinary Union in Unite strives in every way to be:

  • A campaigning union, for better terms, conditions and pay for veterinary workers.
  • A clear and representative voice for the veterinary workforce.
  • A progressive union, a force for a fairer veterinary sector.
  • Open and democratic to our membership.
  • United and tolerant, treating people with dignity and respect.

Our Mission Statement

The British Veterinary Union in Unite has a vision of a prosperous veterinary sector in which employers and employees work together to build successful businesses and safe, healthy working environments. All those who contribute to success in the veterinary workplace should receive the rewards, respect and recognition they deserve.
